Cheymony Fennell, 16, wants to follow in the footsteps of the dancer aunt he met in Cambodia. The murder of artists by the Khmer Rouge "makes me more determined to recreate this culture. It is important for [my aunt] to know we are doing this. . . . Before dancing, I put my hands together and pray to let the gods above me know that I'm performing, doing it the best way I can. Sometimes I feel that the people from before are dancing alongside me and they are guiding me in the dance, and it is a great feeling." Apsara Dancing Stones marks not only a great artistic achievement, but 25 years of Thou's unyielding efforts to help a new generation come to terms with their heritage as well as face the difficult dance of life with confidence.
