Cuyahoga County (Cleveland), for example, received half the voting machines requested and 82% of that county's malfunctioning voting equipment were in poor and Black areas.  Students and townspeople voting at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, as another example, had to wait as long as eleven hours to vote as the small town was given only two voting machines.  Sen. John Kerry, the morning after the election, conceded Ohio to Bush and the vote count stopped.  Kerry apparently felt that he was too far behind to catch or pass Bush.  Many observers were outraged and many analysts questioned Kerry's math. Additionally, many were furious that Kerry's action prevented every vote from being counted.  So, thanks to the Secretary of State's office that supervises voting in Ohio, the poor and the black folks were victimized.  Thanks to the Democratic presidential nominee, the votes they were able to cast were not counted.  There is still anger in Ohio, a lot of it.  And Barack Obama may be the beneficiary.

  Sen. Hillary Clinton's adroit ability to make lemonade out of lemons is well demonstrated in her maneuvering through the Michigan and Florida primary quandary.  To review, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), in the fall of 2007, declared both primaries would be disallowed as each state's Democratic Party decided to hold its respective primary before Super Tuesday.  Michigan state election laws required that candidates remove their names from the ballot. While Obama and Edwards were among those who complied, Hillary kept her name on the ballot.  Florida would remove only names of candidates who had officially quit the race, so the three front runners and others stayed on that ballot.  

  Harold Ickes, Jr. is both a DNC member and top adviser to Clinton's presidential campaign (he was also highly placed in her 2000 US Senate race and the two Clinton-Gore presidential election campaigns).  As a DNC member, he voted - in 2007 - to deny recognition to Michigan and Florida delegates selected through the non-sanctioned primaries.  Now, as a Clinton adviser, he advocates they be recognized and seated.  A 2008 Kerry-esque turn of being against it before he was for it.  A conspiracy theorist would attribute this to a grand scheme by Camp Clinton.  Nah.  She kept her name in front of the voters.  If she had lost either Michigan and/or Florida, we'd likely hear no more of it from her.  Since she "won" and needs delegates, we're hearing plenty.  Barack Obama needs seasoning and toughening-up as a presidential candidate.  He's getting it.

  Halliburton was scheduled to take control of the Dubai Ports in The United Arab Emiirate. The deal was canceled when Bush was unable to affect the transfer of the American Ports.

  Now we see what some might suspect as similiar financial escapading from the Democrats.

  Two years ago, Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity gave a $50 million contract to a start-up security company - Companion- owned by now-indicted businessman (TONY REZKO) Tony Rezko and a onetime Chicago cop, Daniel T. Frawley, to train Iraqi power-plant guards in the United States. An Iraqi leadership change left the deal in limbo. Now the company, Companion Security, is working to revive its contract.

  Involved along with Antoin “Tony” Rezco, long time friend and neighbor of Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama, and former cop Daniel T. Frawley, is Aiham Alsammarae. Alsammarae was accused of financial corruption by Iraqi authorities and jailed in Iraq last year before escaping and returning here.

Every year, the magazine makes awards in various categories. Last year, it gave the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to a man it said "truly epitomized greatness."
